Beautiful Bourton House

Situated near Moreton in the Marsh, The entrance to the garden is through a magnificent Grade I listed 16th century Tithe Barn

One of the finest examples of a formal garden we have come across. Imaginative topiary includes a topiary walk, secluded knot garden and a parterre

The wide herbaceous borders feature stunning plant, texture and colour combinations with many unusual, rare and exotic plants

The White Garden and an 18th century raised walk enjoy views over rolling Cotswold countryside

Opposite the main garden is a meandering wander through 7 acres of pasture land

and, of course :)

Shrewsbury Flower Fest

The show is one of the largest events of its type in the UK. It is also one of the longest-running shows in the country and featured in the 2005 Guinness Book of Records as the "longest-running flower show" in the world.

One marque is devoted to bees and honey products :-p

There were also some great collages from the WI

and, of course, some ridiculously large veg.

but, for us, the most impressive show was that of the single bloom begonias that appear a specialty of the show

though pics don't catch the full depth and vibrancy of these amazing blooms.

We took a drink out of the bottle marked 'Drink Me'

when the strangest thing happened :)

There was plenty of entertainment with:

at the Bandstand
– The Band of the Royal Corps of Signals
– The Band Of The Royal Regiment Of Fusiliers
– The Yorkshire Volunteers Band
– Local Voice Choirs

In the Arena
– Show Jumping
– Army Section Display
– Forge Falconry
– The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment Musical Ride
– The Red Hot Chilli Pipers
– Fireworks

Whilst on the military horse theme there was a lovely reminder of War Horse

in the show garden by the lake

all in all I take my hat off to the organisers
